Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas

Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas

Add this to the list of “things we don’t need the oven to do any more”. Tumbled in olive oil and your favourite spices, these chickpeas pop and glisten in the air fryer. After just 15 minutes, they’re puffy and crispy and perfect for snacking.

Bean love

This past month, we’ve been obsessively page-folding the Bold Bean Company’s new bean book.  When we found the 3-page spread about crispy chickpeas, we knew that we HAD to try this technique in the Clear Mini.

If you’ve roasted chickpeas in the oven, you already know how versatile they can be. So we tested them in the air fryer…

… and … YUM.

Unleash these crispy chickpeas to zhush up your next wrap, salad, or snack plate.

Serving suggestions

They don’t stay crispy all evening, so make them when you’re hungry.  These are great salad croutons, sandwich toppers (hi, extra protein) and honestly, just put them in a bowl and take them into the living room with you. They’ll vanish, pronto.

Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas

Serves 1-2

Half a jar of Queen chick peas
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp smoked paprika
½-1 tsp sea salt flakes

1 – Tip the chickpeas into a sieve, rinse, and drain.

2 – Line a bowl with paper towel (or a clean tea-towel) and tip in the chickpeas. Pat them dry as much as possible, then remove the paper or tea towel.

3 – Add the olive oil and mix well.   Add the paprika and salt and toss again.

4 – Put the crisping rack into the Clear Mini Glass Air Fryer.  Tip in the chickpeas, shut the drawer and cook at 200°C for 15-16 minutes, shaking the drawer occasionally. (Beware – some will pop!)

5 – Tip onto paper towel and cool slightly before eating.
