Air Fryer Shawarma Kebabs
Shawarma made simple? Yes, please. Try this Shawarma-inspired kebab recipe in your Clear Mini air fryer – it’s family-friendly and ready for wrapping!
Traditionally, shawarma is made from thin cuts of meat, marinated in spices and then stacked up on a spit (an oversized skewer). This giant kebab is then grilled rotisserie-style and carved from the outside, with slices shaved off as the edges get cooked, and served with flatbreads and pickles. It’s intense.
So how did we recreate the Shawarma kebab in the Clear Mini air fryer?

We made mini, Shawarma-inspired kebabs and air-fried them for a juicy, sizzling finish. This recipe took minutes to make, using ready-minced meat (easier to mash with your hands). Garlic granules, because they’re easy to blend and they won’t become bitter when fried. And Shawarma Seasoning, an all-in-one blend from the flavour geniuses at Seasoned Pioneers.

We asked our friends at Seasoned Pioneers to create an Air Fryer Seasoning bundle of blends that would add va-va-voom to our air fryer recipes. We’re already obsessed with Wild Herb Salted potato wedges, but that’s a recipe for another day…
Shawarma Seasoning is versatile; it’s warm and (not too) spicy, so it’s fantastic sprinkled on chicken, lamb, or beef. Turn it into a marinade by adding oil and lemon juice, or just mix it into minced meat, as we did here. Match those rich spices with a cooling drizzle like yoghurt or tahini.
Air Fryer Shawarma Kebabs
Serves 1-2
250g beef mince
1 tsp garlic granules
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp olive oil
1 tbsp Shawarma Seasoning
To serve: wraps or flatbreads, yoghurt, tahini
1. Tip the beef mince into a wide bowl and sprinkle over the garlic, salt, olive oil and Shawarma seasoning. Use your hands (or a spoon) to mix it all together really well.
2. Cover and leave to infuse with flavour until you’re ready to cook.
3. Oil your hands and form the mince into 4 sausage-shaped kebabs.
4. Place on the crisper rack inside the glass drawer of the Clear Mini air fryer.
5. Bake at 180°C for 6-8 minutes (break one open to check for doneness).
6. Serve with flatbreads, pickles, salad and a drizzle of tahini!
MORE SPICY INSPIRATION
Eating with friends? You can make a vegan version of these air fryer Shawarma kebabs.
1 - Make a marinade by combining Shawarma seasoning with 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and a pinch of sea salt.
2 - Break or cut extra-firm tofu into fishfinger-sized pieces and toss gently in the marinade; put in the fridge overnight (or continue as below).
3 - The next day, sprinkle cornflour on a plate or board and toss the tofu pieces in it to give them a light coating.
4 - Then air fry at 190°C for 10-11 minutes, or until the tofu has become crispy.
5 – Serve with flatbreads, pickles and sauce.
