Air Fryer Mummy Dogs
Who’s hosting the party this Halloween? Here’s a great air fryer sausage recipe that’s easy to make in minutes - or even assign to the kids. You can make these with any hot dog sausages, even the plant-based ones.
The quickest air fryer sausages
Hot dog sausages, in tins or vacuum packaging, are pre-cooked, so you’re essentially just heating them up. You can do it in a microwave, boiling water, frying pan, or air fryer. Check you’ve got the right kind: the cooking time should be around 3-5 minutes.
Hot dogs x sausage rolls
This Halloween hack combines the best of hot dogs and sausage rolls. They taste “just like a Greggs sausage roll”, according to one of our testers! Make sure you serve them warm, as they’re less appealing after the sausage has gone cold.
Air Fryer Sausage “Mummy Dogs”
Serves 3-4
150g ready-rolled puff pastry (about 1/3 of the pack)
5-6 hot dog sausages
1 egg, beaten (optional)
1 pack edible eyes
1 – Unroll the pastry and cut into 2-3cm strips.
2 – Wrap each sausage in the pastry, leaving a narrow gap for eyes near one end.
3 – Place the crisper rack into the glass drawer of your Clear Mini.
4 - Arrange the mummy dogs on the rack, seam-side down, with a little room between them (- the pastry will puff up). For a shiny finish, brush the pastry with beaten egg.
5 – Cook at 190°C for 6-8 minutes.
6 – Carefully remove to a plate to cool for a minute before serving!
