Air Fryer Salmon with Lemon Pepper

Air Fryer Salmon with Lemon Pepper

Topped with a fragrant peppery crust, this salmon fillet is simple, fast, and even good enough for guests – if you’re generous enough to share. It’s made using an extremely delicious seasoning blend from our friends at Seasoned Pioneers.

Our air fryer salmon was good sprinkled with lemon pepper and a spritz of lemon. But then we added a lemon-miso marinade, and our testers loved it even more.

So if you, too, love eating your dinner standing up in the kitchen without ceremony because it’s just so darned delicious (what? we would never)… you’ll enjoy this.

How to cook Air Fryer Salmon

Salmon’s one of the easiest things to cook in your Clear Mini air fryer. You can cook it on the crisper rack to get a sizzling finish, or you can wrap it in buttered foil to steam. Either way, it’s ready in minutes.

If you’re getting bored of the same old salmon recipe, brighten it up with a blend of miso, lemon juice and lemon pepper – or our second variation, with soy sauce and hot honey.

About Seasoned Pioneers’ Lemon Pepper

We’ve teamed up with Seasoned Pioneers – the iconic British spice brand which makes the blends for Hello Fresh – to create a bundle of seasonings which are all perfect for creating imaginative dishes in your air fryer!

Lemon Pepper is one of the shining stars. Made from a blend of dried lemon with garlic and pepper, it’s fragrant with a kick. We’ve treated our salmon to a peppery crust in this recipe. You could also use it to season chicken legs, or to make flavour-packed croutons for topping a lentil soup!

Air Fryer Salmon with Lemon Pepper

Serves 1

1 salmon fillet (140-180g)
1 tsp sesame oil (or olive oil)
½ a lemon (about 1 tbsp juice)
1 modest tbsp of white miso paste
1 tsp Lemon Pepper Seasoning
1 tsp sesame seeds

1.     Whisk the oil, lemon juice and miso paste in a bowl (use a fork if the miso paste is uncooperative) and add the salmon, turning to coat.

2.    You can leave to marinate if you’re not ready to cook it yet.

3.    When you are ready, place the salmon into the silicone baking dish, pouring over any remaining juices.

4.     In a small bowl, combine the sesame seeds and Lemon Pepper. Sprinkle it over the salmon, evenly coating the top of the fillet.

5.     Bake at 180°C for 9-12 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked (it should be opaque and flaky when you break it) in the centre. Thicker fillets may take a couple more minutes to cook through.

6.   Garnish with lemon slices and serve!

SERVING

Serve it up old-school with steamed new potatoes and asparagus.

Or try a lighter dish: cut your fillet into large, bite-sized chunks before marinating (they’ll cook faster, so reduce the time), then serve over salad leaves with a tahini-based dressing.

Variation: Air Fryer Salmon with Sesame and Hot Honey

Serves 2

240g salmon fillet(s)
Glaze:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hot honey (we used Ramona’s)
½ tsp ground ginger
½ tbsp sesame oil
½ tsp sea salt
Sprinkle:
1 tsp sesame seeds

1. Whisk glaze ingredients in a bowl and add the salmon fillets, turning to coat.

2. Leave to marinate at room temperature for about half an hour.

3. Lift out the marinated salmon and put it into the silicone baking dish (leaving excess glaze in the bowl).

4. Air fry at 180°C for 5 minutes.

5. Pull out the glass drawer and dribble the rest of the glaze over the salmon. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top and cook for another 4-6 minutes.  Check for doneness.

6. Serve with carrot & cucumber ribbons tossed in lime juice, or
basmati rice with green beans & a drizzle of sesame oil.
